Peanut For Snacking

They say that a peanut is not a nut, but a legume related to beans and lentils. It is a natural cholesterol-free and this month of March marked as a National Peanut Month in the US. Dr. George Washington Carver, a researcher who developed more than 300 uses of peanuts is considered "The Father of the Peanut Industry" because of his extensive research and dedication promoting peanut products.

Peanuts contribute more than $4 billion to the USA economy each year. Because of the news alert/awareness of possible health hazard containing peanuts, it hurts the economy and the peanut industry which was mostly a family-owned business. The family who grows peanuts on their farm were the ones affected first and foremost. Consumers are afraid to include in their grocery anything that has peanuts on it. You shouldn't be afraid. It is good to be cautious though and for you to settle your doubts, check your pantry and visit : http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/peanutbutterrecall/index.cfm to check if the peanut butter or peanuts you bought are contaminated with salmonella.
