Saint Augustine's Fort Matanzas

If you plan a vacation in Saint Augustine Florida, you should visit Fort Matanzas just to know the history of this place. This is Matanzas inlet located in the southernmost access for boat travel and the Fort Matanzas was built to safeguard this strategic inlet. The Fort and it's wall is made primary of coquina, a sedimentary rock formed in association with marine reefs such as seashells and coral. A blurry picture which I took inside Fort Matanzas. This Fort was constructed in 1740's.The military quarter , a very tiny place. This is the water cistern which serves as a receptacle to catch and store rainwater. At the Observation deck and this Fort is really in a good location to see the whole area in 360 degrees and definitely can protect the inlet from enemies.
From the dock area, you can travel the ferry for Free and it probably last few minutes to arrive on the Fort.
Just loving the blue skies coz later in the afternoon, storm will take over.
The small docking area in the Fort Matanzas.
Guests can stay here and listen to the guide as he gives the important history details of this place.
It was an interesting visit. Short but fun.
